This guidance is intended for use by everyone involved in standards development work to encourage consistent usage of inclusive terminology in ISO and IEC documents. It provides guidance on applying the principles and rules on inclusive terminology specified in ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2, 2021, 8.6, in the drafting and revision of ISO and IEC deliverables.

This guidance applies to all documents published by ISO and IEC in the English language. This guidance document is accompanied by a list of Non inclusive terms and recommended alternatives for ISO and IEC documents.
